Five
Five years ago today, Nick and I decided to make our relationship “official.”
It seemed like the obvious thing to do since we had been dating each other (and only each other) for over a month and clearly had no intention of seeing other people. As obvious as it may have been, however, it wasn’t an easy decision, at least not on my part. As I mentioned in my post last week, I had just come out of a long term relationship, and some part of me thought I should try to be single for more than a hot minute.
It was the sensible thing to do, and I am a sensible person.
Boy, am I glad I didn’t listen to that small, sensible part of myself, for at least once in my life.
If I had, I would have missed out on five of the best years of my life.
I would have missed getting to know
my most willing taste tester
my partner in crime (and general silliness)
my trusty travel navigator
my cutest wedding date
my best dance partner
one of my biggest cheerleaders
my (not so) secret admirer
my travel buddy
my best friend
and the love of my life
Sometimes going with your gut pays off.
Five years ago today, we went with our gut and, luckily, got five years full of laughter, adventure, happiness, and love as a result.
Quite the pay off, in my opinion.
Happy “official” anniversary, love. Here’s to many, many more.
I just live this. Congrats.
Thanks, Rebecca : )
Awwwww how sweet! What a beautiful story! Congrats!
Thanks, Jenn!

Happy anniversary 🙂
Thanks so much, Joss!
This is so sweet. I’ve been reading your blog for a while but had to comment today. So cute! Congrats to both of you! 🙂
Aw, thanks so much, Lauren!
I love this! And, I totally have to admit that I’m impressed that you know the date it was made official 🙂 Neither my husband nor I can remember the day we actually were serious about dating…oops!
Haha! We’re super dorky like that ; )
Aw this is so sweet, loved reading it. Congrats!
Thanks, Jessica!
So cuteeeeeeeee and so sweet! Happy Anniversary! I feel like true love comes in at horribly, horribly inconvenient times just to show you that you can’t control everything. 😉
Thanks, Erin! I honestly don’t think you could be more right. If this is the result of inconvenience, I’m kind of ok with it ; )
