Great Minds Eat Alike

August 5, 2011

I started my week-long Tour of the Northeast yesterday.

My first stop is Boston, where I’m visiting my old college roomie (and one of my best friends), M.

(This is the best I could do, M. Forgive me)

Ever since our freshman year of college, M and I have bonded over our love for the good things in life. You know, things like

  • Harry Potter
  • The beach
  • Ice cream
  • Nutella
  • Project Runway

and so on.

M was also the person who first taught me how to make the perfect pasta primavera (I’ll never forget the day she suggested I saute grape tomatoes and zucchini with a little bit of olive oil and garlic. So simple. So delicious). She introduced me to the beauty that could be a “salsa salad” (yes, that is simply a salad with salsa substituting for salad dressing. Again: so simple. So delicious). Most importantly, she was the person who showed the gastronomic delights of Florence, Italy my junior year of college. Pizza, gelato, Nutella on fresh waffles. It was the foodie vacation of my dreams. I still drool whenever we talk about it.

It should be no surprise that when I woke up this morning, M had all the right things on hand for a perfect breakfast:

  • Trader Joe’s yogurt
  • Kashi GoLean Crunch
  • Fresh pineapple and strawberries

All delivered in the perfect package:

The Buddha Bowl I have been coveting for over a year now.

It was the exact breakfast I was craving, and M (clearly a foodie soulmate) did not disappoint.

Great minds eat alike, huh?

Who’s your foodie soulmate?

M is one of many! She’s my healthier one, for sure.

Love the Buddha Bowl. No one eats like me…sad, but true. I’m a food freak.

I’m your food soulmate too, but definitely not the healthy one 😉

Know what’s funny? I had that in there and then took it out, thinking you’d be offended. Clearly I was wrong ; )

ha, my friend Kelly is my food soulmate…when we are together, we are always enjoying something delicious and healthy (she’s also my workout and beer soulmate so we counter-act our healthiness with working out and booze). it’s all about balance, right?

Haha! Absolutely! Sometimes the best food soulmates are the ones you can be healthy AND unhealthy with. ; )
